Lugano, Switzerland
Hello friends and family:
We are spending the last few days of our vaction at a nice resort on Lake Lugano on the border of Switzerland and Italy. We will leave tomorrow for the Milan airport for an early Mon flight home. We are flying Air France!
The weather is perfect, the food is even better according to Ron. We got an upgrade to a junior suite because of air conditioning issues the first night. So we have been living in style!
This has been our 4th trip to Switzerland together, finally Sharon let Ron buy a CooCoo clock. His job is now to get it home safely!
The following are pictures of our resort and the local area. See you soon. . . .

Glazier Express Train and St. Moritz
Hello friends and family: On Sunday we left Gemmelwald and backtracked to Brig, Switzerland. From there we took a scenic train ride of what is called the Glazier Express. It was a slow but scenic ride. We arrive in St. Moritz to cool, rainy weather. We have enjoyed it even so and did get a walk around the lake and a 3 hr. hike today. St. Moritz is a twin city to Vail, Colorado, so skiing is emphasized and the slopes are nice for hiking when most of the snow is gone. Elevation here is 6000 feet--our hike today was much higher than that. We will try to add pictures but we are on a foreign computer so we are uncertain. Tomorrow we leave on another scenic train-bus trip to Lugano, Switzerland where we will be for 3 nights.

Today's hike near Gimmelwald
Hello friends and family, We had a beautiful weather day and took advantage of it. We started with breakfast on the Schilthorn. This is 10,000 ft revolving restaurant. It is famous for James Bond 007 movie in mid 60s. But the view, of course, is the main event. We took 2 gondolas to reach it. We then hiked the Northface trail near Murren which was about 3 hours of beauty. We will attach pictures. We have an apartment here so we have the luxury of relaxing on the porch or in the living room. We will eat in tonight by cooking pasta.

Gimmelwald Switzerland
It took us 3 trains, a bus and a gondola--but it was worth it. We are in central Switzerland at an area recommended by Rick Steves. Very beautiful. It is a small farm village so we have fresh milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. Lots of hiking--most of them accessed by gondolas. We will spend 3 nights here.

More pictures--June 30
Dustin getting amuch needed haircut in SanGimignano--Tuscany.
Dustin had a detour at the start of the trip--an engine went out and an emergency landing in Omaha resulted in a delay to Italy by 1 day. But he did get to see a friend in NYC. Do not be fooled by the smile. . .he was not happy about the delay but was happy to be safe!
The whole group enjoying a snack during the hike at CinqueTerre.
The newly engaged couple!
We will leave tomorrow for Zermatt, Switzerland. We are all enjoying the sun and water at CinqueTerre. Also, of course, the food and hiking.
We will be together for three more days and then Dustin, Adam and Angela go to Paris and Ron and Sharon stay in Switzerland. We will try to keep you posted. All is Well!

Update
Hello friends and family, we will try again later to post pictures. There are technical difficulties. We are now in cinque terre--one of Ron and Sharon favorite spots. Now it will be one of Adam and Angela's favorite spots also because they got engaged here last night on the deck overlooking the Mediterranean. Quite Exciting--we were hiking today so didn,t find out the news until this evening. The young ones, Adam, Angela and Dustin spent the day exploring Vernazza and relaxing by the Sea. . . Ron and Sharon hiked 5 hours. All enjoyed their choice of activities!

Update May 27
We are now in Tuscany--the scenery is beautiful. Adam is our designated driver on the narrow winding roads. We are at San Gimignano. Our time in the dolomites was wonderful with perfect weather and a beautiful hike. All is well--we are eating pasta and pizza often. The red wine is flowing also.
Tomorrow we go to Cinque Terre. Hopefully our hiking legs will be ready for the next day because that is primo hiking area. We will try to post some pictures--but computers are often iffy.
