Day 3: Sisters to Prineville Oregon 40 miles

Today was an easier day. we started with breakfast at Sisters Coffee Shop. . . a favorite.There were a few small hills but mostly flat. My sister, Fran, and her husband, John, rode with us a short distance. . they had a notable hill climb. They also delivered our camping equipment. Tomorrow we will have a heavier load. we had beautiful views of the mountains and lots of roadkill: 2 cats 1 dog 1 snake 1 frog.

Day2: Detroit, OR to Sisters, OR: 59 miles

This ride was not easy. the first 35 miles were a continuous uphill pull. Then we hit the 3 and a half mile butbuster! The 6 miles decline was appreciated. we arrived in sisters about 3 pm. Marion Forks restaurant was open so we had a nice second breakfast there. we are staying at the sisters motor lodge. they have a hot tub and that is where we are going right now.

Day 1 May 17th: Salem Oregon to Detroit Oregon 60 miles

The weather was perfect. We had coffee at mile 9 with our friends, Nancy and Dean. we are staying at the All seasons motel. its prime was 1950 but it is clean and has a soft bed. we arrived before 3 pm.

Transamerican Bicycle Trail Northern Route

We have been asked to put an outline of our intended route on the blog. Obviously we may detour from this route for a variety of reasons. . . Some of these are more than one day apart. . .but it will give you an idea. We hope for 50 miles/day average--with one day off each week.
