We expected a tail wind today but overnight the wind changed. We got an early start at 6:30 (we were asleep by 8 pm). The wind was strong and the hills notable. It took us 3 hours to go 15 miles. After a difficult ride yesterday we were discouraged. Thankfully after 15 miles the hills ran out. The headwind persisted but our overall speed increased to 9 mph or so. We arrived at our cheap hotel ($38/night) at 1 pm. We called several hotels and most were full because we are near the ND oil chaos. The hotel room is small but clean. The BR is the smallest we have ever had. Because we are taking a rest day here we will change motels tomorrow to thr "fancy" Comfort Inn. I am including a picture showing the tent on the back of my bike (my friend Sue could not imagine where it was). It is not being used because of thunder and rain storm as seen in some of the other pictures.
This is an area of Montana badlands.

Wow the wind seems to be making things tough. More so than the Rockies climb. Thanks for pointing out the tent. I have wondered too where you are carrying everything. Enjoy your rest day tomorrow at the Comfort Inn. As for me graduation day tomorrow!!!! Ü
