Day 55: Wenona, IL to Kempton, IL. 62 miles.

The weather is cooler.  Notice the wind turbine picture. Where you see them it will likely be windy.  Still a headwind today.

We are staying in a B & B tonight. When I called for reservations I asked for dinner instead of breakfast since there is no place to eat near here. We are more than 5 miles east of Kempton.  When we stopped there for lunch we found out the cafe has neen closed for a few years. The only business we saw is a book store. It is specialized and does 95% mail/internet orders.  A woman there had just made a taco bell run (25 miles away) and offered us a taco.  Ron at first declined thinking that was the polite thing.  But we accepted one each when we found out they had plenty. We supplimented with the cold drinks, ice cream and payday candy the book store sold.  We still appreciated the welcome cold juice, crackers and cheese and cold honeydue melon the B&B hostess provided when we arrived about 2 pm.  We both felt revived after that and a shower and rest.

The dinner was great! She is a gardener and believes in healthy, organic food.  We had an amazing salad with basil dressing and pasta with home grown vegies. Even the sauce she makes from her garden and cans. Then we had currant pie.  We had seen the currants growing outside and did not recognize them. This is a must stay for any travelers to this area (Greenhouse B&B).

Tomorrow our destination is Rensselaer, Indiana.  This is hopefully where we will get Rons bike fixed.

Yay for Taco Bell and currant pie! I'm sure the B&B was a welcome event for you. I'll keep praying the headwind will stop. (What's with the chickens, Ron?) The meal looked grand.

Your meal looks so good, but then I am so hungry right now the Taco Bell sounds great too. It must be a challenge to not be discouraged at times when situations come your way like the only food being 25 miles down the road and you only have your own leg power to get there and it is a Taco Bell at that.
