We are in the plains. The roads are incredibly straight. There were a few slight hills but mostly flat. We have put a picture of the "rumble strips" that present a biking challenge. We try to ride to the right of them but often there is not much room or too much glass or loose rocks. If we ride on them we have a very bumpy experience. The cars and trucks have all been very courteous and give us a wide clearance. We have rearview mirrors so if we see vehicles from both directions we will try to pull completely off the road.
We celebrate every 10 miles by Sharon ringing her bike bell. The simple pleasures of life. . .
Road kill in this part of Montana are mostly prairie dogs. We saw several pronghorns (an animal similar to a deer) . Thankfully they were not roadkill.
Wind can be your friend if it is a tailwind. Today it was more a sidewind.
Scenery is huge fields, probably wheat. The frequent trains provided some diversion.
The towns are very far between and small. We are staying in Chester, population 847. We once again had only one cafe in town.
Our total miles is almost 1100. We had one flat today. We are getting good at changing tires.

Love seeing your photos and reading your blog: You two are amazing! Here's hoping for a tailwind and sunny skies the rest of your trip. From Marsha-- RiteAid pharmacy.
Glad that you have many days of flat riding ahead of you after the Rockies. I guess if you get to much to the right of the line you know you won't be falling asleep right! You didn't give us lodging for the night are you back to the tent or have you found a quaint little place in the might town of Chester? When is the rest day? Seems like I need one and I am not riding so shouldn't you be needing one? Love the celebration Sharon. Maybe you can attach a deck of cards to your spokes right before you ride in the Salem Massachusetts!
Thanks for the encouragement.
We wont mention this hotel to Ron again. It would not be described as quaint. Thw wind was the reason we did not camp. . But he thinks the tent would have been better. We are taking a rest day in Havre tomorrow. They have bicycle lodging at the college there. Thanks for your faithfuk comments!
Sorry for the typo that should be faithful.
No problem with typos I have them all the time myself! LOL
