Out sleeping bags were wet last evening but mostly superficial so just wiping them with paper towels helped. By morning they were wet again from the sweating overnight. . It was very warm in the tent and the threat of rain made taking off the rain cover too risky.
The good part of camping is you are not tempted to sleep away the morning. We were on the road by 5:40 am and had reached our destination before noon.
The early morning is a great time to travel. Cool and less traffic. Both yesterday and today our route included some interstate highway riding. There was alot of truck traffic.
We saw our first oil well today.
The hotel we are in is the only one here but is actually very nice for inexpensive. The only cafe in town closes at 4 pm. We had a good lunch and "took out" a sandwich and piece of pie to go with canned soup for dinner. We call that a fancy 3 course meal. There is no grocery store in town (population 530), but there are two taverns.
Ron added our total trip mileage so far: 1601.

Hey Ron are you actually smiling in that photo with your on your bike????
Since you are calculating what is the mid-way point in miles?
A 3 course meal! Really...we found some towns in the mid-west rolled up early too when we traveled in March. We did find clean hotels that were surprisingly cheap too. So do you travel with cans of soup and rolls of paper towels. Seems like you are traveling light but these seem interesting items to have on hand when traveling light.
I bet that can be unnerving riding on the Interstate even at 5:40 AM! You never know what trucker has been driving all night and into the morning hours. Thank you Lord for continued safety for these precious friends of ours. May you continue to place your angels around them daily.
