It was cooler today (66 when we started). Yea! We crossed the Mississippi River into Illinois about 5:30 am. No traffic since it was Sunday morning.
Guess what the major farming crop is in Illinois. You are right. . .corn. Not as many rolling hills as Iowa but notable headwind. We did not complain at first because it kept us cool. But after hours of going 10 mph or less because of the wind it did get old. We were tired when we arrived about 2 pm. The wind must be common since there are many huge windmill generators.
This is a historic village settled by Swedish immigrants in 1846. The building we are staying in was built in 1856. As you can see from the pictures it is much nicer than camping. We may even sleep in past 5 am tomorrow.

I'm glad the heat has subsided some. (you didn't say how hot it got) What a lovely place you have to stay--hope you get a good night's rest. . .and don't have to battle a headwind tomorrow. You had a LONG day!
How exciting to cross the Mississippi. I had my boys put their feet in the water when we crossed. Love the look the the B&B. That stone wall is so cool looking.
